BIOGRAPHY

Robert recently graduated from the Royal Academy Opera Course where he studied with Mark Wildman and Jonathan Papp, having previously completed his undergraduate studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

In 2019 Robert joined Garsington Opera as an Alvarez Young Artist to cover the role of Krusina in Smetana’s The Bartered Bride. He is an International Opera Awards Young Artist and a previous recipient of the MOCSA Young Welsh Singer of the Year Award.

Bartione Robert’s opera credits include English National Opera, Grange Festival, Grange Park Opera, Opera Holland Park, Nevil Holt Opera and Northern Ireland Opera.

Notable operatic roles to date include Count Almaviva Le nozze Di Figaro, Masetto Don Giovanni, Steward Flight, Figaro Il barbiere di Siviglia, Herr Peachum Die Dreigroschenoper, Ibn-Hakia Iolanta, Schaunard La bohéme and Belcore L’elisir d’amore. Contempory roles include Muffty MICROmegas at the Tete a Tete Festival and Aaron The Prometheus Revolution at Grimborne Festival Opera. He is currently on tour with Radius Opera singing the role of Zeus The Fire of Olympus a new piece written by Tim Benjamin.

Alongside opera Robert also performs frequently as a concert soloist. His previous engagements include Handel’s Messiah with the Britten Sinfonia and Brahms Ein Deutsches Requiem with the London Philharmonic Choir. He has recently given recitals at the Guards Chapel, where he holds the position of Lay Clerk, and at the Corn Exchange in Newbury as part of the International Newbury Spring Festival.
